Sometimes the most simple things in the world can be the most amazing things in life. The older I become, the more value and beauty I see in simplicity.
Especially when it comes to flavors.
Take a good marinara for example. It’s the most basic sauce, but it exudes flavor, and is such a versatile sauce you can use in hundreds of ways.
Think about a Caprese Salad. Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Basil. So simple, yet it is one of my favorite dishes in the universe.
This strawberry pie. Strawberries, crust and jam. It seems too simple. Too easy. Too few ingredients. But then again, isn’t that what we like? Simple, and easy? Yet bursting with flavor?
Just wait ’till you taste this one. Only three ingredients, but oh the power of three.
Merlot Jam Glazed Strawberry Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 container fresh strawberries, ends trimmed
- 1 large jar of your favorite jelly – I used a strawberry Merlot jam
- 1 prepared pie crust, baked – homemade or store bought (for the best pie crust recipe ever, click here)
Directions:
Melt jam or jelly of your choice in a small pot on the stove. Pour 1/2 a cup of melted jam into the prepared pie crust. Arrange strawberries in the pie crust by standing each on their cut end. Brush remaining jam/jelly onto the strawberries coating each berry thoroughly. Refrigerate for about an hour and serve with whipped cream or drizzle with caramel or chocolate.
Life is too short to eat ugly food y’all.
