1Kept Kitchen & Bar | Atlanta, GA

My favorite things about 1Kept are not only the creative menu, the ultra talented and attentive bartenders, and the easy parking (a true luxury in Atlanta), but also the innovative and impressive concepts and philosophies they value.

I had many “firsts” at 1Kept Kitchen & Bar. It was my first experience with Popcorn with Truffle Oil. 40 years without this in my life is unfathomable. If you haven’t yet had the experience… Go. Now.

1Kept is truly one of the most beautiful restaurants in Atlanta. The rustic woodwork throughout the restaurant paired with a modern, industrial look is spectacular and a perfect blend of past and present. It offers such a warm, cozy atmosphere where you always feel at home. It was my first favorite bar & kitchen in Atlanta.

My favorite things about 1Kept are not only the creative menu, the ultra talented and attentive bartenders, and the easy parking (a true luxury in Atlanta), but also the innovative and impressive concepts and philosophies they value. 1Kept operates under a “Collective Kitchen” where ideas are encouraged and welcomed keeping their menu fresh. They support local suppliers, growers and vendors and have an in-house “Pickling Lab” for all sorts of offerings from watermelon to sea beans.

1Kept offers a chef select, 6 course meal on Tuesdays thru Thursdays, where 100% of the bill will go to one of our select charities. You decide, and they will make a pledge to that amount.

Recommendations from the Porch: Fennel Pork Meatballs, Sweetgrass Mussels, ANY of the flatbreads, and say YES to the Black Truffle & Parmesan popcorn!

JK opened his first restaurant in NYC back in 1977, and has since opened and successfully managed several other locations, including The Wing Café & Tap House for 18 years.

Decompress.

That’s the first word that pops into my mind when I think about The Wing Cafe & Taphouse. That’s where I want to go to decompress and have a little fun. On my first visit I selected “my seat” at the bar. It’s my space and the perfect place to watch my favorite sports teams or any number of the amazing live bands and entertainment you will find here.

I had the privilege of meeting Wing Cafe owner JK after an amazing Coast to Coast cask dinner. He took me on the grand tour, including their one-of-a-kind, fantastic outdoor tiki bar! JK opened his first restaurant in NYC back in 1977, and has since opened and successfully managed several other locations, including The Wing Café & Tap House for 18 years. Now THERE is staying power!

If you have the chance to meet JK, introduce yourself. I promise you his passion for the industry and providing folks with a fun, friendly environment is contagious. Ask him for the grand tour; it will be a conversation you will truly enjoy. Cheers, JK 🙂

Recommendations from the Porch: Homemade Cheese Curds, Cheesy Tater Tots, ANY of the wings, and if you’re really HANGRY, the Hedeen Burger! You won’t believe this one! Finish it in 30 minutes or less and it’s FREE! IF you do this, PLEASE let me know and we will feature you on The Front Porch Gourmet!

The hubs and I met at The Butcher and Block one day after work on a whim. That was the most fabulous whim we’ve been on in a good minute. Everything from start to finish was stellar.

My life is very structured and planned. I have several calendars, organizers and daily planners I use regularly. I review my daily schedule 24 hours in advance, I create meal plans and know my breakfasts, lunches and dinners on a monthly basis.

But. Every once in a while, something will go a little cattywhompas, and unplanned. The Butcher & Block was one of those things that just happened and makes me think what a tragedy it would have been to miss this. Did you SEE that cupcake?

The hubs and I met at The Butcher and Block one day after work on a whim. That was the most fabulous whim we’ve been on in a good minute. Everything from start to finish was stellar. The craft cocktails were spot on, the staff wore huge smiles and were completely engaged with the customers. The burgers? The deviled eggs? THAT CUPCAKE! Everything was perfect. Even the Chef Seth Hendricks who came out of the kitchen to say hello. 😉

Recommendations from the Porch: Basil Sriracha Shrimp, Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich, the Filet & Egg, Prohibition Cocktails
