Southern Art’s Buttermilk Biscuits
Art Smith offers his own delicious take on this quintessential Southern favorite – check out the details below!
- 4 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 6 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
- Pinch of salt & black pepper
- 1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- 5 ounces grated white Cheddar
- 2 cups buttermilk
Mix all dry ingredients and diced butter. Stir in the cheddar, then add buttermilk and gently fold. Pat dough out on a slightly floured surface into an 8-by-10-inch rectangle and cut into 2-inch square biscuits. Bake on sheet for 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
