Summer is coming to an end. Hehe. 🙂
Most all of my friends are all over there like, “Oh no! I never want Summer to end! I love the immense heat, and sun, and changing my clothes 20+ times a day into dry ones. I love to “glisten” (because Southern ladies simply do not sweat). I just love it when my make-up melts into globs and runs down my face like Rainbow Bright. Summer CAN’T BE OVER!”
Meanwhile, I’m all over here like, “Soups, Stews, Pumpkins, Squash, Chicken & Dumplings, Bonfires, BOOTS! …Football! Friends! Food! Fall Leaves! Fall Breezes! The Fair! ALL of the good F Words!! Did I say football? OH! …and THEN there’s football!”
I admit. I do love fresh summer foods too, like this seriously good Seared Tuna & Plum Salad. But y’all we can eat these things YEAR-ROUND! Who wants soup in July???
In summation, as for me and my house, we will welcome the season and the boys of fall. GO GAMECOCKS! GO< FIGHT< WIN< KICK SOME TAIL FEATHERS!!!
Bring. It. ON!!! 🙂
Pan Seared Tuna & Plum Salad
1 Sushi grade Tuna Steak
2 plums, sliced
1 carrot, sliced
Black Cherry Balsamic Vinegar – Or a good aged Balsamic
Rosemary Olive Oil – Or good quality EVOO
Salt & pepper to taste
Mixed Salad Greens
Place greens, carrot, and plums in salad bowls. Season tuna according to preference. Pan sear the tuna over medium heat, about 1 1/2 minutes each side for a nice rare center. Allow to cool for a few minutes, then thinly slice tuna. Add to salad. Dress with Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar.
Life is too short to eat ugly food y’all.
You are so funny Melissa! I must admit that I am not too keen on “glowing” in the heat but I do so dislike the cold! I am looking forward to cooking heartier food – funny how that works but I will be sad to see the shorter days and the rain…I love how simple this recipe is – tuna is one of my favourite things especially as sashimi. Delicious!

I am so fair skinned I get scorched and shrivel like a prune under the summer sun! I love the longer days and I also love the beach, but give me fall weather any day. 🙂 I too love the simplicity of this light salad.
