There is never a dull moment IN or AROUND Atlanta. It is the ONLY place to be for the very best in all things food, drink, parties and celebrations.
Today I’m bringing you my favorite highlights of local festivals, celebrations, great new food & wine products and just a few “nibbles of news” straight from The Porch!
Red Pepper Taqueria Celebrates Three Years in Buckhead
Yes, its true. On some web page that we cannot recall, there was some doctor-guy that said Tacos are highly addictive and that it’s like the only acceptable addiction that should be fed on a regular basis. At Red Pepper Taquería, we’re Addicted To Tacos™ and we strive to make the tastiest tacos just to feed your addiction… and ours, of course 🙂
Red Pepper Taqueria celebrated its three-year anniversary of the Buckhead location with a giant fiesta! Executive Chef and Owner Chef Mimmo Alboumeh began the festivities with a Customer Appreciation Pre-Party that featured two hours of complimentary signature margaritas, beer, live music and more!
Taco’s are our specialty, but we’re not your typical Mexican joint. Our Chef Mimmo combines the best fresh local ingredients and his home-made sauces to make a taco addict feel right at home.
Celebration guests enjoyed discounted margaritas, “Mexican Break” shots and craft beer all night long. Of course, Red Pepper’s full dinner menu and oyster bar was available along with its extensive tequila, local craft beer and signature cocktails selections.
While taco’s are their specialty, they are not your typical Mexican joint. Chef Mimmo combines the best fresh local ingredients and his home-made sauces to make a taco addict feel right at home.
Red Pepper Taqueria offers weekly specials, awesome events… and the best part? They are SPORTS JUNKIES! Red Pepper has over 20 Hi-Def flat screens to watch every sporting event this side of the equator and beyond! Euro Soccer or Lucha Libre Wrestling anyone?
If that wasn’t enough, Red Pepper Taquerias are a fantastic supporter of safe fun offering $5 off of your check to Uber customers. How’s THAT for a GREAT time!
Congratulations on three wonderful years Red Pepper Taqueria!

Old Fourth Ward Ignites for Fire in the Fourth Celebration
Parades, people, entertainment, oddities, music, food and fun… I am such a festival girl! This year’s Fire in the Fourth could possibly have been my favorite festival event of the year.
Paying homage to the historic Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, which devastated the Old Fourth Ward, the festival celebrates its heritage with over 30 live, local performances by musicians, dancers and artists; fire games, sculptures and performers; history presentations; food, drink and more. Open to all ages and free to attend, all proceeds from Fire in the 4th will benefit the Old Fourth Ward Business Association.
Fire in the 4th strives to be a shining example for what a neighborhood festival can and should be,” says O4WBA Event Chairman and Noni’s restaurant owner Matt Ruppert. “Instead of wondering how money is going to be put back into the community, you can walk around and experience it on the street.
Entertainment for the event was provided by Frets on Fire, Beverly “Guitar” Watkins, Ruby Red’s Band, Django Earnhardt, Twin Criminal and 10 Degrees Off with all day amusement by the Imperial OPA Circus and fire performances at dusk.
I have never met anyone quite like Georgia music legend, Beverly “Guitar” Watkins. At 77 years young, this is one AMAZING lady who is so talented, she plays the guitar behind her head!
If you’ve never seen a blues lady who can play guitar behind her head, belt out powerful songs and lay down James Brown steps, you’ve never been in the audience when Beverly Guitar Watkins was burning down the house. As a teen she teamed up with the legendary Piano Red and has rocked venues with the best of them for 5 decades. Through the years Beverly Guitar Watkins has stolen the hearts and blown the minds of audiences internationally.
Another fantastic talent was the Imperial OPA Circus! You HAVE to see these guys perform at least once in your life.
Founded in October of 2009, the Imperial Opa Circus is a theatrical entertainment company based in Atlanta, Georgia. We have one motto that underlies everything we do: Inspire, Create, and Do Good.
Exciting and approachable performance styles, combined with unique and artistic puppetry and musical wonderment make The Imperial Opa Circus one of Atlanta’s most diverse and entertaining entertainment troupes.
Excitement, entertainment and uncommon people doing wondrous things!
This is The Imperial Opa Circus—creative entertainment to enchant, dazzle, and amaze.
There were games and artisans…
As Atlanta Magazine’s “Best New Festival” of 2015, the Old Fourth Ward Business Association has set out to make the 2016 event bigger and better. New this year, festival goers can enjoy a ‘Ride the Fire’ Bike Tour that follows the path of the infamous 1917 blaze and sit, back and relax during an Auburn Avenue Jazz Concert at the Ebenezer Baptist Amphitheater. Never a dull moment, Shadow People sideshows, including glass walking, sword swallowing and a human pincushion, are also new this year along with Circus Combustus fire sculptures, games and performances. Festival goers are also sure to be dazzled by Out of Hand Theater’s Resurgens, a two-story, 20-foot-wingspan phoenix puppet made of projectable fabric at its base.
…and Of course, what would life really be without good festival food!
If you don’t experience another single festival next year, make sure THIS one is on your calendar! It is definitely on mine!
